SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS   

Dr. David Wickham has extensive experience in the design, development, and characterization of thermally stable catalysts for industrially and environmentally important chemical reactions.  He has developed catalysts for combustion, reforming, NOX reduction, ammonia oxidation, and endothermic reactions used for cooling hypersonic aircraft.  He has also developed non catalytic chemical processes including a stable low temperature oxidation system to convert waste to CO2 and H2O in space, a method to remove coke layers from endothermic heat exchangers, and finally additives that prevent filamentous coke formation.  While at Reaction Systems, Dr. Wickham has been responsible for developing novel catalyzed liquid sorbents for CO2 capture, catalysts for reforming logistics and renewable fuels, thermally stable catalysts for N2O decomposition, and finally catalysts to convert lignocelluloses to glucose.  He is an expert in the analysis of kinetics of catalytic and gas phase reactions and the analytical techniques required to characterize reaction chemistry.  Finally, Dr. Wickham is experienced in the synthesis of advanced materials used in the production of high performance catalytic materials.

 

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS     

August 2007 - Present:  President, Senior Project Manager, Reaction Systems LLC, Golden CO.

    • Led a NASA Phase I project to develop novel liquid membranes or removal of CO2 and H2O from space suits. 
    • Led a DOE project to develop cost effective methods to capture CO2 from coal fired power plants. 
    • Leading an Air Force project to develop catalysts to decompose N2O into O2 and N2 for use in a scramjet ignition system. 
    • Developing methods to convert cellulose into energy. 

June 1990 – August 2007:  Principal Chemist, TDA Research, Inc., Wheat Ridge, CO.

    • Led an Air Force funded project to develop thermally stable catalysts for methane reforming.
    • Led an Air Force funded project to develop soluble nanocatalysts to impove combustion in high-speed air craft.
    • Led NASA effort to develop catalyst for selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen and water.
    • Led NASA funded project to develop low temperature oxidation methods for waste control on board space craft.
    • Led DOE project to develop thermally stable catalysts for low NOX methane combustion and for hydrogen production through partial oxidation.
    • Led DOE project to develop thermally stable catalysts for the partial oxidation of methane to carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
    • Led Air Force and NASA projects to develop additives to increase fuel heat sink capacity. 
    • Led NASA project to develop methods to remove coke from endothermic heat exchangers.
